Larvae and Microalgae Specialist

Sadie Woloson is the Larvae Culture Specialist for the National Aplysia Resource at the University of Miami. She holds both a bachelor’s degree in Marine Science from Stony Brook University and an associate’s degree in Environmental Studies from Finger Lakes Community College. As the Larvae Culture Specialist, she oversees the larval culture and production at the resource to ensure a consistent and reliable animal supply.
With a diverse background in marine science, Sadie has extensive experience in animal husbandry, marine mammal and sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation, environmental education, community outreach, and environmental consulting. Her research interests span marine animal behavior and physiology, toxicology, and general marine ecological studies.
Sadie finds her work deeply rewarding knowing it contributes both to advancements in human health research and to marine conservation. She is passionate about advancing marine science through research and education. Outside the lab, Sadie enjoys exploring local beaches, volunteering, visiting close by national parks, and trying out different food spots throughout Miami!
